I have previously talked about my love for baked ziti.
This time I am going to share the steps on how to make.
It’s a great dish to throw together and cook later if needed.
Feeds a lot, cheesy, and delicious!!!
This recipe is from our cookbook (click here).
It was inspired by my sister-in-law’s friends in Philly.
You will need: 1lb cooked pasta (don’t rinse), 5 cups crushed tomatoes,
3 cups whole milk ricotta cheese, 1 yellow onion diced,
3 garlic cloves chopped, 1lb sausage, 1/2 cup red wine, cup grated parmesean,
2 cups shredded mozarella, and some butter.
First step is to brown the sausage.
Next throw in your onions and garlic.
Cook until soft.
Add your red wine.
Lower heat to simmer for 10 minutes.
Turn up the heat and add the crushed tomatoes.
Spice up your life!!
Garlic salt, red pepper flakes, oregano, marjoram, pepper, salt….anything!
Cool the sauce then add to ricotta. Mix, Mix. Mix.
This is what it should look like when mixed…..
Add your cooked pasta to your sauce/cheese mixture.
Pour mixture into greased baking dish.
Cheese time!!! Sprinkle your mozarella….
And some parmesean…..
Dot with butter.
Cover and bake at 375 for 30-40minutes!
A true Italian feast!!!!
