In The Kitchen: P Dub’s Chicken Fried Steak

Jun 8th
You may know her as “The Pioneer Woman” or Ree Drummond, but I call her P Dub. We are on those terms. I absolutely fell in love with Ree a couple years ago thanks to my fabulous Uncle Pell on the East Coast who turned me on to her. Since then she has become a woman I look up to and just LOVE. I love both her cookbooks, cannot wait for her novel to make it to the big screen and believe an ideal Saturday morning starts with a cup of coffee while watching her cooking show. I have passed on my love of her to friends and family. Recently when I was on bed rest for a knee surgery my hubster’s grandma and grandpa spent a lot of time keeping me company. Grandma also fell in love (I mean it’s hard not too) and since then we talk and share recipes. One night my mother-in-law decided to have a night dedicated to P Dub. I’m talking flowers in mason and milk jars, with plenty of butter in the shopping cart. I made her chicken fried steak which was my first time making and eating. Delicious!! We accompanied the meal with twice baked potatoes, whiskey carrots and sinful brownies. Amazing! You can follow the recipe HERE but check out my steps. We added some seasonings on the steak themselves and also cooked in the oven for a little bit after frying. (PS- thanks to the fabulous Christina for snapping some of these while my fingers were filled with flour!!)
