The Pumpkin Patch

Oct 22nd

This past weekend I got the most wonderful surprise! A dear friend from when I lived in NY booked a flight out for the weekend to just hang out. It was so wonderful to see her and I enjoyed a little down time as for whatever reason the past two months have been insane on the social calendar. I think we’ve had something every single weekend…which I’m not complaining about at all, it’s just been busy.

In true tradition by my in-laws, this was the weekend to go to the pumpkin patch. We go every year to gather pumpkins, hay, cornstalks and gourds to decorate our houses for the fall season. My friend, who I must interject now is British, had never been to a pumpkin patch and was quite confused with what you’re supposed to do. Even as we tried to explain it kind of sounded silly, but something about this annual event mixed FINALLY with some cooler temperatures (scarfs and tights people!!) makes it feel like we have a true fall season. Of course being at Underwood Farms, we also stocked up on some gorgeous heirloom tomatoes for the week and other delicious produce.

The whole time while we were there all I could think about it next year. We, err well I,  will be one of those parents dressing their little one up and placing besides a pumpkin to snap that Hallmark photo. Oh, poor chid. I am so sorry already! The fact we will be adding another little member into the mix makes me so excited and it’s moments like these where I really cannot believe we are having a baby. I start to think of all the “firsts” we’re going to have and this one will be an absolute blast. In the meantime, I’ll be the big kid and ride around in a wheel barrow.
