In The Kitchen: Broccoli Cheese Casserole

When hubster and I first started dating one of the few things I ate was broccoli, and cheese. Imagine my delight when we realized that both of our favorite dish around the holidays is a broccoli cheese casserole. A true match was made in heaven? This has been made in his family for years at every Thanksgiving and often Christmas. If I could I would make it every day but unfortunately as they say “once on your lips, forever on your hips.” We follow this recipe from our Sunday Supper cookbook. A couple notes…..We added some chopped water chestnuts for a little more crunch. I also recommend using fresh broccoli instead of frozen. After having both I like the way the fresh tasted.  For those who are beginners with cooking this is a great recipe to start on. There’s little chopping and only measuring involved. All you do is add everything together then bake!! What’s your favorite dish?

Ingredients

Gather everything together in a bowl.

Chop your broccoli and water chestnuts. 

Mix everything together then pour into a buttered casserole dish. 

Bake covered for 30 minutes.

Once uncovered add a little more cheese and fried onion strings. Bake until golden brown.
