In The Kitchen: Reese’s Whoopie Pies

Dec 27th

Who doesn’t love a whoopie pie? I mean how can you say the name without smiling? Well thanks to a friend that got us this book I’ve been learning to make these delicious treats. I was in a peanut butter mood (shocking!) so I followed the recipe (similar here) to make a chocolate whoopie pie. I then used this go-to recipe for peanut butter frosting. I add in a little more vanilla and powdered sugar than it calls for. To make it extra special, and also to get rid of the candy in our cupboard, I crushed Reese’s Pieces and rolled them in it. We have a whoopie pie pan but I actually found using parchment paper and a baking sheet was a lot easier. Then I got to thinking, this is the perfect holiday treat if you’re entertaining. Make a vanilla or mint frosting instead and roll in crushed candy canes. What do you think?

Start by making the whoopie pies.

Pour batter in whoopie pie pan or use parchment paper.

While they cool make your peanut butter frosting.

Spread frosting between two cakes and get extra on the side. Roll into Reese’s.
